GENEALOGY

It's only natural to have a fascination with the unknown and with your origins. Genealogy, the tracing of family trees and ancestry, remains ever popular because it marries these preoccupations while putting the genealogist in the middle of a detective story.

Unless you have a highly documented ancestry (and with most of us this is becoming increasingly rare), tracing a family tree will never fail to spring surprises, giving us insight into our origins, and furthering intrigue. Uncovering secrets about your own family is always far more interesting than fiction, because it's necessarily closer to home. But it also connects you to the wider picture, and as progress is made, and generations are traced back, history starts to come alive.

If you are starting genealogy for the first time then you'll soon realise that if you want to have any success, amateur sleuthing will only get you so far. This is why the genealogist needs all the tools and methods at his or her disposal, both traditional and modern. The Internet is a great place to get primed for your task, for researching, finding and communicating with others so you can discover new branches of your own particular tree.

I started to trace my ancestors a few years ago now and it still remains for me to do more!

I am also interested in collateral (brothers and sisters of my parents and grandparents and their descendants).

Below is the list of the surnames I have found:

WANTED

I am looking for some information on: Philippe BOULAY ( BOULET, BOULÉ )
  • born on June 09, 1845 (place which I seek)
  • died on February 08, 1930, Draveil (91210) France
At the date of his marriage (February 13, 1867, Mhère (58140) he was living in the department of Nièvre, but this surname (BOULAY, BOULET, BOULÉ) does not appear in this department in the 19th century.
He must have left his family and moved away without wanting to keep in touch. I am thus looking for his village of origin.
His wife, Jeanne DUMAS, was originated from Montreuillon (58800).
They had, to my knowledge, 7 children.
